Why isn't my bundle discount applying in the cart or at checkout?

The discount is worked out from what is in the cart, not from a click in the widget. If it's missing, the cart usually doesn't meet the offer for that product, the shopper isn't eligible (market, B2B or POS), or another discount took the item, because outside Shopify Plus an item gets only one product discount.

Checks for bundles

1. The bundle is live

Its status is Active and today is inside Settings tab > Active dates. A bundle that couldn't be activated because of Shopify's limit of 25 active automatic discounts gives no discount (Shopify Help Center).

2. The cart meets the offer

• Quantity breaks count each product on its own, with its variants together, so two different shirts don't reach a Buy 2 tier; Mix and match counts different products together. With Count each variant separately ticked, each variant counts alone. See Quantity break tiers.
• Buy X, get Y works on one product at a time. The free or reduced units are the cheapest ones in each full set; with Repeat for bigger quantities off, only one set is discounted.
• Complete the bundle applies only to complete sets: every product in the bundle, in its quantity. If one is missing, the whole set pays full price.
• Alternative product and upsell add-on discounts apply only to items the widget added through that card or add-on.
• A tier set to No discount (often "Buy 1") gives no discount, by design.

3. The product and shopper qualify

• The product is in Show this bundle on and not excluded.
• Eligibility: the shopper's market is covered, Exclude B2B doesn't apply to them, and for in-store sales Exclude POS is unticked. See POS support.
• Settings tab > Discount rules > Apply the discount only to items added through the widget: when this is on, items added any other way (a quick add on a collection page, for example) pay full price.

4. The price rule can lower the price

• Discounts come off the selling price, never the compare-at price.
• A Fixed price per item or Fixed total price at or above the current price gives no discount; a discount never raises a price.
• A percentage is worked out per item, so a pack total can differ by a cent or two from the percentage of the whole. Use Fixed total price for an exact pack price.

5. Another discount isn't taking the item

Both discounts must allow combining, and outside Shopify Plus an item gets only one product discount. When discounts can't combine, Shopify applies the best one for the customer, and a code entered at checkout can show "Discount couldn't be used with your existing discounts" (Shopify Help Center). 6. Subscriptions

A bundle discount on a subscription covers the first order only; renewals are charged the subscription's own price. See Subscriptions in a bundle.

Checks for the other discount types

• Buy X get Y never adds the Y item; the customer adds it. See Buy X get Y: free item not added.
• Subscription items. In Volume discount, Order goal, Buy X get Y and Shipping discount, Applies on subscription purchases is off by default. While it's off, a cart that holds any subscription item gets no discount from them.
• Customer tags and segments are read from the signed-in customer. A guest has no tags, so a rule that requires a tag never reaches guests.
• Free gift missing from the cart: see Free gift not added to the cart.

Where the discount shows

A bundle discount appears in the cart and at checkout under the offer's Checkout name (or its title). The cart discount types show nothing on the product page; they appear once qualifying items are in the cart. All of them run in Shopify's own checkout only, so a checkout that replaces Shopify's doesn't apply them.
